Graduates earn 517 degrees from Macalester College

About 27.5 percent of the 517 degrees and certificates handed out by the Macalester College in 2016-17 were to students in Social Sciences programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Paul conferred 142 bachelor's degrees in Social Sciences programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General. Data shows the school gave out 63 bachelor's degrees in Biology/Biological Sciences, General, followed by 50 bachelor's degrees in Economics, General and 42 bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Government, General.

The college enrolled 2,146 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
