About 48.8 percent of the 166 degrees and certificates handed out by the Vermilion Community College in 2016-17 were to students in Natural Resources and Conservation programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.
The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Ely conferred 49 associate's degrees and 32 certificates in Natural Resources and Conservation programs.
But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Data shows the school gave out 32 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies, followed by 20 associate's degrees in Wildlife, Fish and Wildlands Science and Management and 17 certificates in Natural Resources Law Enforcement and Protective Services.
The college enrolled 653 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
