McLeod County ranked 20th in state for resident earnings in 2017


McLeod County ranked 20th among counties in Minnesota by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of McLeod County residents was an inflation-adjusted $31,091 per year. McLeod County had 14,760 households in 2017, with a population of 35,816.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Carver County. Carver County's median income was $42,039 per year after adjusting for inflation – $10,948 more than McLeod County. It had 35,342 households in 2017 and a population of 98,799.

Clearwater County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Minnesota, with a median income of only $23,181 per year. That was $7,910 less than the median income in McLeod County at the time. Clearwater County had 3,428 households in 2017 and a population of 8,824.
