Brendan Carr | Federal Communications Commission

Comcast's Chief Legal Officer, Tom Reid, has praised FCC Commissioners Brendan Carr and Geoffrey Starks for their dedication and passion for public service. Reid emphasized the vital role played by the commissioners in advancing broadband investment, regulation, and bridging the digital divide. He expressed eagerness to collaborate with them on these important issues and others crucial to the nation's communication policies.

"The passion and dedication for public service exhibited by Commissioners Carr and Starks exemplify the qualities needed at the FCC," Reid said.

Reid commended the commitment to public service demonstrated by Carr and Starks, highlighting their leadership in critical areas such as broadband, regulation, and digital inclusion. He emphasized the importance of their roles in maintaining the United States' leadership in global communications policy.

The Senate recently approved the reappointment of Carr and Starks as FCC commissioners with unanimous support. Carr, a Republican, has held his commissioner role since 2017, while Starks, a Democratic commissioner, began his term in 2019.

Chair of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, U.S. Senator Cantwell, issued a statement applauding the confirmation of Carr and Starks. Cantwell emphasized the need for a fully-equipped FCC that can deliver on an agenda that puts consumers first, expands affordable broadband, protects communication network security, drives innovative spectrum policies, and strengthens local news.

Under the Democratic majority at the FCC and into the third year of the Biden administration, Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel has signaled her intention to reintroduce Title II regulation for broadband services. Rosenworcel congratulated Carr and Starks on their unanimous Senate confirmations, stating, "With a complete Senate-confirmed Commission, the FCC is now ready to take on our full slate of work and fulfill our commitment to ensuring Americans everywhere have access to the best, most reliable communication services in the world."

Comcast's Tom Reid's praise for Commissioners Carr and Starks highlights the recognition of their exemplary public service dedication and the importance of their roles in shaping the future of communication policies in the United States.
